"We Walk By Faith and Not by Sight 2 Corinthians 5:7"
Welcome to My Apollo page!
This is my fourth year in Apollo and This Year, and I plan on going to college for an accounting degree at the university or college of my choice.
I cook nearly every day, and I surprise myself with my cooking skills. I enjoy cooking for my family and friends because it makes me feel good to share my gift with others. One of my favorite meals I ever made was Smothered Fried Chicken with curry rice and it was absolutely delicious.
I enjoy reading the Bible and studying the Word of the God. My parents raised me to follow the Most High and listen to his WORD. I recently joined a youth choir at a Church called Empowerment Choir at Temple of Grace in York City. The environment at during the choir rehearsals are fun and I get to learn about what I am singing.
I believe the topics I choose will not only help me but, help others determine their career and, look forward into their future. I know for a fact that Apollo aloud me to learn about African American history. Our school doesn't have African American Studies as a history course so I'm grateful to have the chance to learn about my heritage through Apollo while still following the social studies curriculum at my school.

Senior year Projects
It's my Senior year in Apollo, and so much has happened during the summer. Many African Americans were dying from police officers, protest for Black Lives Matter, Covid-19, climate change, and politics. I've felt for the protesting and how the United States still needs to change because there's systemic racism in the country. For the history portion of my project, I analyzed information about the Civil Rights Movement, Civil Rights Amendments, Jim Crow Laws, and other African American activists. With the art portion of my project, I analyzed different artists and art from the African American Harlem Renaissance Era and made a drawing showing unity with communities. For the English portion, I read The Black Book, and it talks about how the United States has treated African Americans from the 1600s to the 1940s.
Ever since I got the flu before the United States shut down because of coronavirus, I've been staying home and watching politics. I've never been interested in politics until this year because of coronavirus, the racial unrest, the election, and so much more. I' won't be able to vote this election, but once I turn 18, I want to register as a registered voter! For the history portion, I researched the republicans and democrats and had interviews with my family and the community. As for the art portion, I created campaign posters to represent who would be a perfect candidate for President of the United States. With the English segment, I wrote journal entries based on my perspectives on politics and the interviews.

Learning about how America came to be, and the diverse history of America is quite intriguing. Analyzing why we should incorporate diversity into our education system, especially our story that can influence students, can be of great use to them. Students learning about our multifariousness allows them to learn more academically and to understand other perspectives. For the history portion of my project, I wrote a persuasive essay about why our education system needs to change to benefit students learning. For the English segment, I wrote a persuasive speech about why the 1619 Project Curriculum or something similar to it should be in our academic learning. With the art portion of my project, I wrote a poem and created a short film about why things must change in our society to benefit the younger generation.
I've never dug deep into my Native American roots, and I thought, why not finish Apollo with something I enjoy, learning about culture. We don't learn enough about the Native Americans in school and I wanted to learn how Native American and the federal government synthesized through history. For the history portion, I did research on the different Acts the federal government put in place against Native Americans and wrote two acts to support the Native American push. With the English portion, I read Native American creation and love folklore and wrote my own about a Cherokee Chief falling in love with A Shawnee woman, in an enemy tribe. For the art portion, I synthesized different ingredients from various tribes and created my own stew.

Concerning my first Apollo Project this year, I decided to formulate a project covering my family preferences and how it fashions my lifetime. Family values are important because they prepare us for life lessons and how to be successful in development. For the history portion, I asked my family a series of questions concerning their family preferences and why they desire to retain traditions. For the English portion, I read Native Son to compose two numbers about my family importance and individual characters within the novel. For the art portion, I vocalized a black gospel melody with my sister and mother. I was learning about particular definitions of the identity of images from analyzing The Kitchen Table from Carrie Mae Weems.
My second project in Apollo this year was a project based on isolation. I'm a person who prefers to be around people and will usually have conversations with people I never faced before. I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could be in isolation for an hour in a natural environment. I traveled to Rocky Ridge Park and Lake William and Lake Redman to complete this project. For the history piece, I read and examined Thoreau at the Walden book and wrote down journal entries. While for the English portion, I analyzed and summarized three chapters of Thoreau. I used the Thoreau at Walden school to strengthen my analysis. The art portion was my favorite because I learned to create a painting of the art technique, isolation.

Ever since I was a little boy, I have loved singing, cooking, reading, baking, researching, and thinking. I've grown up listening to gospel music and other songs that I sing in chorus. Some of my favorite gospel songs are, "Won't He Do It," by Koryn Hawthorne, "You Waited," By Travis Greene, "Everlasting God," by William Murphy, "I'm Getting Ready," by Tasha Cobbs, and "Work It Out," by Tye Tribbett. In my large family, nearly everyone is a singer. I was raised in a house full of music and I'd loved singing ever since. When I was younger, I would observe my family ever time they would cook a delicious meal so that I would be able to cook the way they prepared food. One of my favorite chefs is Gerry Garvin. He's an African American Soul Food Chef who is known for his television series, “Turn Up the Heat with G. Garvin".

Sophomore Year Projects
For my first Apollo Project, I decided to do my project about the various African clothes in Nigeria, Liberia, and Ghana. African clothes aren't just your average clothes. African clothes tell a story about the adventure and lifestyle of the person. Not only are the designs symbolic, but so are the colors. For the English portion, I created a vignette that tells a story about a young Ghanaian boy who is about to graduate and get his stole. For the history portion, I chose to do research and write about the contextualization of the different designs in Africa and how the colors give deeper meaning about the patterns/design of the clothing. For the art portion, I researched three people who lacked a character feature. I gave them an African design that embodies the characteristic they require.
For my second Apollo Project, I decided to do it on diverse food cultures. I created food from the cultures of Jamaica, India, and Israel. Food always shows perspective to others from different cultures. Different people from another culture may view the food differently compared to the other culture. The food doesn't only bestow perspective, but also culture and geography. For the english portion, I devised a menu that describes the perspective of Israel food. For the art portion, I created all of my food from my menu. Every country had an entire meal, meaning an entree, side, a drink, and dessert. I formerly wrote my perspective about the method of preparing the food and how to make the food.

For my third Apollo Project, I chose to do my topic on pollution. Pollution is a topic discussed all over the world. Pollution affects any living creature and can cause diseases and many other problems to occur. For the english portion, I created an essay based on how pollution affects the world. For the history portion, I made an essay on how trash and plastic affect pollution and the solutions that are formed to stop pollution from growing. For the art portion, I sang two songs that talk pollution and how we should end it.
For my fourth Apollo Project, I decided to do my project on music cultures and musicals. Ever since I was little, I loved music, and it helps make me who I am today. Music is significant to many cultures and is a large part of society. For the history part, I made music on GarageBand by combing African, Brazilian, Cuban, Eastern Asian, and Chinese musical instruments. For the English portion, I combined two poems based on musicals to form one new poem that tells a different story. For the art portion, I made a scene between the main characters from two musicals. They are both astounding musicals, and you might know them as, Catch Me If You Can, and Beauty and The Beast.
