My goal for this project is to comprehend why African clothes designs conveys meaning and why they are so relevant to African culture. The project will give information about the designs/colors/patterns of African clothing and how it molds the Africans.
English
I began by researching the various African clothes patterns like Kente cloth as it was clothes used in Ghana. The people in Ghana have different colors in their clothing that gives meaning. I'll explain more about that in the history portion of my project. Anyway, I chose to create a vignette but, to understand a story, I had to read one first. I read the book, "Sold," by McCormick, Patricia. The book was about a girl who lives in a small town in Nepal. Her stepfather forces her to take a job to support the family since they were poor. The thirteen-year-old girl was tricked into prostitution. I'll let you guys read the book to get more understanding. After I read the book, I decided to create a vignette about Ghanian boy who is graduating and getting his stole. A stole in Ghana is a sign of pride in the country and the colors on it are very important to the culture.
I didn't have trouble understanding a Vignette after reading one. I thought it was quite enjoyable when I began my first one. I appreciated how my story worked out, and how it got the advice to others. Every detail counts when creating a vignette.
The book "SOLD," was an excellent help when I began creating my story. Another thing that helped me during the language arts portion was the amount of research I did to fulfill the story. My vignette was used precisely to explain the different African colors.

Social Studies
For the social studies piece of the project, I decided to do an investigation on different outfits from Nigeria, Liberia, and Ghana. I began by essentially scanning over the various patterns within each country. I even went in depth with the clothes by obtaining the true purposes following the colors of the designs. Each color of the clothes in Africa provide purpose and is symbolic. For instance, red means powerful, blue means peace, green means health, pink means tenderness, and yellow means holiness. The evidence in my research helped me understand my project as I progressed and learned more about the people of these countries.
This portion of my whole project was daring during the end because I wanted to make sure everything was good, but it all turned out alright. I had the opportunity to review all the facts I needed for that portion of my project. I think without the information that I examined, my outline wouldn't be the same without them. I praise God that all the knowledge I had researched was very convenient.

ART
I designed images online, by using Photoshop and composed a short summary of each picture for, the art portion. I used two photographs, per person and a shirt to merge to create one perception. The purpose of this was to express whence the people require a specific characteristic, and the design/color represents what characteristic they are missing in their life.
For my first image, I used a picture of Donald Trump smiling. He is one of the most hated people in 2018. People believe he has made created America look bad in front of other nations and isn't the best at politics. The African attire that Donald Trump would wear would be red. Red symbolizes blood and strong political feelings. He may be the president but, many Americans and other nations believe he isn’t the brightness president that the United States had to offer. This African pattern has circles on it that are symbolic. The circles in African clothing represents infinite, with neither beginning nor end. It’s similar to power as the concept of infinity, just like eternal royalty. On the design, the full circle represents the universe and the community of men. The circle design on this kente design was worn during the enthronement of the king to make him remember all of his divine characters.

For my second image, I used a picture of Logan Paul. Logan Paul is a very young and interesting man who would have had an immeasurable future if it wasn't for his actions. Logan Paul is among the most hated person in the United States. Paul traveled to Aokigahara forest, known as the "Sea of Trees," with his camera. Aokigahara is a very familiar place where people sadly commit suicide. When he went to the forest, he encountered a body, and unfortunately, he discovered a dead body. Instead of being smart, Paul traveled to Aokigahara Forest, known as the “sea of Trees,” with his camera. When he went to the forest, he encountered a body, and unfortunately, discovered a dead body. Instead of being a mature adult, and altering his discoveries to authorities, he uploaded the video on YouTube. It caused him to lose many subscribers and viewers that used to look up to him. He took down the video and apologized about the entire incident.
Logan Paul has lost peace with so many viewers and his fame because of one event. In Africa, there are many clothes designs that people wear that give meaning about the person. Logan Paul should wear a blue Dashiki from Nigeria. Blue within Africa signifies unity, harmony, good fortune, and love. He ruined the peace he had with his fans once he published the disheartening video. A Dashiki is traditional clothing from Nigerian wore by the ancestors of the Yoruba people from Nigeria.
A Dashiki is a colorful fabric shirt form the Yoruba people. It’s a colored cotton fabric, which has geometric patterns. The dashiki is also a symbol of protest and belonging to the black community for many African and African American black community movements. During the struggles in the civil rights of 1960, African Americans dressed in a dashiki. It is a true symbol of pride in the identity of the back community in the same “Black Lives” or “Black is Beautiful” movement.

I enjoyed the crafting process for my project. I thought crafting an image would be a challenge, but it was challenging. It took me two days to craft three shirt designs, but all of it still came out nicely. I think I would rather doing something else, then do online art. My teacher helped me during the creation of my online art design. Overall, my project was a success and be proud of what I have accomplished after three weeks of successful research.
Contextualization
I chose to do this project because I might want to travel to Africa and visit this amazing continent. I am very interested in the culture and the many traditions in some countries. One of the most interesting points about the culture in Africa is clothes. The clothes and designs are more than just your average shirt, pants, socks, scarf, etc. It tells a story, and it's very symbolic to them. Not only the patterns symbolic but so are the colors in the designs as well. They would tell you the characteristic of a person, and without them, people wouldn't understand each other. I think people should start to wear African clothes since its more than something you put on your body. It's a pair of clothes that are unique and unlike any other. In the end, African clothes are symbolic and have meaning. I can't wait to buy more African clothes and express myself to all the brothers and sisters of Africa. I hope you enjoyed this valuable information, Asomdwe (which means peace in Twi Ghanian)!
